I am an in-law to the Hopi people. And boy oh boy did i have to work at a Hopi wedding. Washing dishes, serving guests. I literally never sat down that day and my meal was whatever I could wrap into a napkin and put it in my apron. Whenever I could I would sneak a bite. Then as the wedding rounded up, I received a whole Blue Bird flour sack full of numni, blue flour.

I would think that you have to put forth the same effort as growing it as you do working for it.

Julia just emailed wondering where she could get blue corn flour in the bulk bins here in the Pacific Northwest.

I didn't find any so resorted to a buying an bag of it at Whole Foods. Arrowhead is a decent enough brand I've heard--as far as bioethics go. So didn't mind sticking a crinkly package into my cart--for the most part anyway.

Thinking back to the days on Hopi when we'd drive between the mesas over to this one lady's house who had an electric grinder. Ma, my neighbor, would take her blue corn over and then we'd go pick it up when it was ready.
