Microplanes do such wonderful things to food. Use a petite one to grate nutmeg over your latte in the morning. Or nab the grande sized tool for zesting citrus and turning Parmesan into the stuff of the goddesses.

  2. Here’s an email I got from Marsha–she sounds good but no news on the microplane status:

That post on the web site didn’t show up until today!!!! Oh thank you so much for that special note- I will show everyone at work your special mention. My birthday is over and done with- had a Mexican dinner at a local TEX-MEX restaurant and savored it all- oh how I have missed it!

  3. The microplane turns a block of Parmegiano-Reggiano into a snowstorm and allows me to use nothing but fresh, whole nutmegs for everything from spinach and asparagus to applesauce to coffee! I use a slightly larger grate for my onions and garlic.

  4. nicely put Suzan–and yippety-do-dah, fresh nutmeg cozies up to all kinds of things

…I’ve also been on a fresh allspice jag lately–whiz it up in my coffee grinder where bits linger for the next cuppa as well
